TIER is struggling financially (as is everyone else during the COVID stuff) and we just cannot bring in another horse right now. I did offer to try to help via networking with other rescues and individuals that might be able to help this mare.
I emailed back and forth with the original contact person while I tried to network this horse. I was able to speak to the owner and found out the mare was not 11 years old, but she is over 20 years old. Her last farrier visit was a few months ago.
I reached out to a trusted friend/supporter/rescuer who had recently lost one of her horses. She has been involved in rescue for over 25 years, is experienced with Arabians (turns out this mare is 1/2 Arabian) and she has fostered for us in the past. I was hoping she might know of someone able to give this older mare a safe place to land.
This awesome lady stepped up to the plate and offered to take in this lovely mare. If things go according to plan, Dusty will be picked up this weekend and move to her forever home!! Woot! Woot!
