We were contacted by one of our supporters about a lovely mare in a kill pen in Texas. She was scheduled to ship to slaughter on 12/14/2021. The supporter offered to assist with purchase price & transport to quarantine. She was saved from making the trip to Mexico on 12/13/2021

12/15/2021 - SAFE & at Quarantine

It's going to be a HOLLY Jolly Christmas!

Holly loaded right up into the trailer hired to transport her to quarantine without any hesitation at all.

12-15-2021 arrival at QT-Update from Kathy at Starburst Ranch where Holly will be quarantined before coming to TIER.

I’m going to start her on uniprim. Eyes are caked with junk and very irritated. I can’t keep her head out of the food long enough for a good head shot. Maybe tonight.

I don’t se any skin issues. A couple of little dings. Feet done recently but probably not done for awhile before that. She’s good to handle. Sweet natured. Big motor.

12/13/2021 - Helping Holly

Historically, American holly fruit tea was used as a heart stimulant by American Indians. Well, HOLLY certainly stimulated the heart of one of our regular supporters!

We received an early morning phone call today, 12/13/2021, from a lady who was willing to pay the bail on a little redheaded mare in a Texas kill pen if we could take her. The mare was scheduled to ship to slaughter in Mexico on 12/14/2021. She also said she could help with part of the transport cost to quarntine.

If we said yes, we would need to raise funds to cover the rest of the transport costs to quarantine, Quarantine Board, any medical needs and transport to CA.

Transport to QT from Kill Pen: 200

Vet costs: Health Cert: 30, other costs unknown

Quarantine Board: 400

Farrier: 50

Transport to CA/TIER: 600 (this is a special rate for TIER/one time only)

TOTAL Needed: 1,280.00 (Hopefully she is healthy and no vet bills).

We said YES! In recognition of the 2021 Christmas Season, we have dubbed her HOLLY. We can have her picked up on Wednesday and taken to Kathy's for Quarantine and care. She is cute as heck, needs a soft place to land.
